Nona attained her BA in Spanish from University of California Santa Barbara in 1967 and her MA in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy in 1975. After college, she became a social worker with LA County and worked for 5 years, doing crisis management/intervention with Spanish speaking clientele and then moved into supervision with the employment and training unit. As a counselor for the Open Door Drug Clinic, she spent 4 years providing all aspects of services to at-risk youths for one of the first Free Clinics in Los Angeles County. After moving to Olympia and starting her family, she changed her career focus and owned/managed the Old World Bakery from 1980 to 1989. Nona has many hobbies including gardening, traveling, raising orchids in her greenhouse, dahlias in her garden, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. For 20 years, she performed with Satin & Lace Dance Troupe, amazing audiences from Canada to Las Vegas with the fact that you can entertain at any age.
